About me
In 1997, I began a post-graduate internship at Networks Family Counseling Center, a group private practice in San Francisco, where I was eventually hired as a staff therapist. Here I received intensive supervision and training in couples, family, individual, and group therapy. During my time in San Francisco, I completed ongoing training in Art and Play Therapy through John F. Kennedy University.
After returning to Bloomington in 2000, I began working for Bloomington Hospital as an inpatient therapist on the Adolescent and Adult Psychiatric Units. Here I worked with hospitalized adolescent and adult patients and their families, and facilitated groups. I transferred to Bloomington Hospital's outpatient mental health clinic in 2003, where I worked with children, adolescents, and their families. In 2004, I opened a private practice, where I continue to work today.
I am licensed in Indiana as a Marriage and Family Therapist and as a Mental Health Counselor, and in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a Clinical Member of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
I completed my undergraduate work at Indiana University in 1992, graduating with B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Criminal Justice. I received my Masters of Counseling degree from Arizona State University in 1996, specializing in Family Therapy.
After graduating from ASU with my Masters degree, I moved to San Francisco, CA. My professional life in the Bay Area included working as a School Counselor for grades K-8 in the Redwood City School District. I provided individual and group therapy, as well as taught a social skills curriculum in the classroom. Additionally, I facilitated 504 Plan meetings with parents, teachers, and administrators to come up with appropriate 504 accomodations.
